MEET THE FOUNDER

Dr. Monifa McKnight

Dr. Monifa McKnight serves as the President and CEO of McKnight Lotus Leadership Group. She brings twenty-five years of experience dedicated to empowering students, supporting educators, training leaders, and driving transformational change within organizations. Over the course of her career, Monifa has been widely recognized for her visionary leadership and lasting impact.

In addition to receiving numerous awards, she has been selected for several groundbreaking roles. She served as a Principal Ambassador Fellow at the United States Department of Education in 2015. In 2021, she was appointed the first woman superintendent of the 14th largest public school district in the nation. In 2024, she became the inaugural Superintendent in Residence and Dean’s Fellow at the University of Maryland’s College of Education. These milestones reflect both her leadership influence and her ability to guide complex systems through meaningful change.

Through these experiences, Dr. McKnight has developed a deep understanding of leadership needs across multiple sectors. She has worked nationally with leaders and organizations to strengthen their capacity to lead others, which ultimately inspired her to establish the McKnight Lotus Leadership Group.

Throughout her career, Dr. McKnight’s work has been guided by the belief that dedicated and authentic leadership can break down barriers for youth and organizations alike. She is committed to helping individuals and institutions reach their full potential and make meaningful contributions to their communities and the world.
